So, there’s this peculiar thing called copyright. I believe there are many documentaries and other materials on the complexities of this subject… In the same breath, there is something called the public domain. A quick search on Google says the following:
The public domain consists of all the creative work to which no exclusive intellectual property rights apply. Those rights may have expired, been forfeited, expressly waived, or may be inapplicable. Because no one holds the exclusive rights, anyone can legally use or reference those works without permission. Wikipedia.
This is a conversation that raises a whole host of questions around intellectual property and ownership. Particularly - what works belong to the public and are available for free use?
There are theories involving the idea that we may be living in a simulated universe. Others make the analogy that we are living inside God’s mind. In other words, God is thinking all of this up. Which to me is fascinating. The brevity of God’s imagination. I mean, have you seen the detail and precision in the fibers of a feather?
This got me thinking… If we do indeed exist in a simulated universe - if God is thinking us up, then aren’t we God’s intellectual property?
Matter of fact, I’ve come to the conclusion that I do indeed belong to God, the Universe, to life. This is more of a choice than it is a scientific matter. Through the experiences I’ve had in this lifetime, I’ve come to realize that I am like a piece of God’s work that belongs to life and the Universe.
This is a choice that arises out of the act of surrender. When I realize that I work best in a state of surrender and wholehearted devotion to life - it makes sense to me that my being and existence be dedicated to the vastness of life.
Why am I choosing to belong to life? It occurs to me that there are things (marvelous things) that are beyond my perception and logical reasoning capacity. Some of which I have been tasked with getting involved in in this lifetime. In order for me to fulfill this cosmic work - I have to allow life to claim me, and make me instrumental.
I don’t really know what this entails… but I feel that I am called to give custody of myself to the cosmos.
